About the Club
History of the Blues
Amesbury Football Club was established in 1904 and initially joined the Salisbury and District Junior League before moving to the Salisbury and District League in 1906. After winning the league in the 1955-56 season, they became members of Division One of the Wiltshire League. Although they faced challenges, including a bottom-table finish in 1972-73 without relegation, Amesbury bounced back to claim the league championship in the 1974-75 season, followed by a strong performance as runners-up in 1976. Renamed Amesbury Town FC in 1984, the club continued to thrive in the early 90s, securing the Wiltshire League title twice in 1991 and 1992. They also won the now Fountains Trophies Cup in three successive seasons between 1989 and 1991.
After 3 years playing in the Western league between 1994 and 1997 they finished bottom and left to rejoin the Salisbury and District league.

After finishing as runners up in the 1997-98 season, Amesbury joined Division 3 of the Hampshire league. After a 4th place finish and a league reorganisation for the 1999-2000 season it saw Amesbury promoted to the premier division which they won at their first attempt.
In 2004 the Hampshire league merged into the Wessex league with the club becoming members of Division 2. Which was renamed Division 1 in 2006. After 11 years in the league in the 2015-2016 season they were runners up and were promoted to the premier division for the first time. The club finished 3rd from bottom in 2017-18 season and were relegated back to division one. They made an immediate return to the premier division finishing runners up again in the 18-19 season. They finished bottom in 21-22 and were relegated back to division one and form didn't improve and they finished 2nd bottom of division one and were relegated out of the Wessex league and back into the Wiltshire league.

2023-2024 saw a dramatic upturn in form with a new manager and a host of new players arriving at the club, they went on to win the Wiltshire Premier league at the first time of asking and were promoted back into the Wessex league for the 24-25 season.

2024-2025 also saw the reformation of our under 18s team for the first time since 2017. They will be playing in the Wiltshire Senior League floodlight division.
